Strategy consulting · Alpharetta

Strategy consultant in Alpharetta, from someone who has run the company.

Alpharetta is home: my office is at North Point, and I work with CEOs, founders, boards and operating partners across North Fulton on the decisions that set a company’s next three years: where the growth actually comes from, how to integrate what you bought, where AI pays, and what has to be true before the next round or the exit. I founded the company that became Web.com and took it public on Nasdaq, and I led the cloud transformation inside Cox Automotive.

Most of my practice runs nationally. Here the work can simply happen across a table: at my office, at yours anywhere in North Fulton, or in your boardroom, with Zoom between sessions when that is easier.

What North Fulton leaders bring me

The strategy questions on the table in Alpharetta.

Alpharetta is a technology town with corporate offices along GA-400 and founder-led and sponsor-backed companies around Avalon and Downtown. The decisions leaders here bring me cluster in six places.

Scaling a technology company

Growth outrunning the operating model: the second product, the first enterprise customers, the leadership team that has to change shape. I built a hosting company, the one that became Web.com, so the infrastructure and SaaS world here is the one I come from.

Integrating the company you bought

A platform built from acquisitions, or one deal whose growth case has not shown up. The thesis written down and sequenced, one commercial engine, one operating model, and the people you need to keep. More on integrating growth after an acquisition.

A sponsor’s plan on a clock

A PE or venture owner with a value-creation plan, a board that wants it delivered, and a management team stretched thin. I have been the managing partner on the board side and the COO in a VC-backed turnaround.

Change inside the corporate office

A division of a large company along GA-400 asked to transform without stopping the business. That is the work I led at Cox Automotive.

AI that pays for itself

Fintech and payments companies, and the corporate offices beside them, under pressure for an AI answer. Workload by workload, with the number the board will hold you to. More on AI consulting.

Ready for the next round or the exit

The decisions a buyer or an investor will test, made before they are asked: the operating model, the numbers that hold up in diligence, and the leadership team that stays.

How I engage

Three levels of ownership, in person in North Fulton.

The level is picked together on the discovery call, and it can change as the work does.

Advise

Standing counsel to the CEO, the board or the operating partner: a cadence of sessions, in person or on Zoom, with access between them when the decision will not wait. Retainer.

Enable

A defined piece with a start and an end, a go-to-market reset, the first hundred days after a deal, an AI adoption plan, with your people doing the work and me keeping it honest. Project fee.

Drive

I take the problem and drive it directly as the executive responsible, in consultation with you: integrating an acquisition, restarting a stalled transformation, change too big to advise from the sidelines. Priced like the operating commitment it is.

Local proof

Based at North Point. This is home.

This is my home market. I live in Alpharetta and my office is at North Point, so a working session is a short drive, not a fly-in, and the standing cadence can simply be in person.

The record behind the work: the company that became Web.com, founded in Atlanta and taken public on Nasdaq, then through the merger of two public companies; the cloud transformation inside Cox Automotive, a $250M budget, kicked off across the table from AWS’s Andy Jassy; a decade as a venture managing partner on boards; and 35 mergers and 18 exits across my career, three of them as the operator.

Questions

Strategy consulting in Alpharetta: the questions people actually ask.

Do you work in person in Alpharetta?

Yes, at my office at North Point or at yours anywhere in North Fulton: Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell, Johns Creek, Cumming and Sandy Springs. Board meetings, offsites and working sessions in person, with Zoom between them when that is easier.

What does strategy consulting cost?

It depends on the level of ownership: standing advisory runs on a retainer, scoped projects carry a project fee, and transformation leadership is priced like the operating commitment it is. What moves the number is the scope, the cadence and how much of the work is on-site. We agree the number on the discovery call, once we both know the shape of the work.

Are you a firm, or one person?

One person, by design. The person on the discovery call is the person in the room and the person accountable for the result. Where the work needs more hands, your own team does it with me, which is how the capability stays in the company after I leave.

Do you work with technology and fintech companies here?

Yes. Most of my operating record is technology: a hosting company that became Web.com, the platform transformation at Cox Automotive, and product and engineering leadership at New Relic. The strategy questions in a technology company are the same ones, they just arrive faster.

Do you work with PE- and VC-backed companies in North Fulton?

Yes: portfolio-company troubleshooting, integrating a bolt-on, leadership transitions, AI value creation and exit readiness, for the sponsor and for the company. I spent a decade as a venture managing partner on boards and was COO in a VC-backed turnaround, so I have sat on each side of that table.

Can you help us integrate an acquisition?

Yes. The thesis written down and sequenced, the commercial engine, the operating model and who decides, the people you need to keep, and the number tracked against what you paid for. The full approach is on the strategy consulting page.
